I found a new autoresponder I will check out this week. Once that’s in place, I feel my site is ready to be announced to the world. Shout it from the virtual rooftops. Send out press releases, articles, and emails.

Sounds simple, yes? Yet, there are details in each step so this all will take a little time. First, write the press releases, then decide where to send them. Okay, a few days, done in between my client work. Next write about 10 articles. Okay, that’s another week at least! Then sign up at a bunch of article directories and submit the articles—and I’ve been told to tweak them for each different directory because Google doesn’t like it if you submit the same article to more than one site. Okay, Google, I’ll play by your rules. Another few weeks!

And then the dreaded e-mails. E-mail marketing is a huge component of any Internet marketing business and whether you write them yourself or hire a ghostwriter to write them, they are your bread and butter. You know what I mean! You probably get a ton of these “friendly” e-mails from everyone whose list you’ve signed up on just because you wanted your freebie! Of course, we all know you can get off these lists any time, but who has the time to unsubscribe? So you keep getting bombarded by e-mails inviting you to this free teleclass, telling you about this great product, or wanting you to sign up for a BIG seminar that will change your life.

Okay, a few more weeks for me to figure out a few months’ worth of e-mails to send out to my list. What I find is best, to avoid procrastination, is do what is easiest and quickest first. That gets the energy flowing. For me, writing a 500-word press release and submitting it to my list of free PR websites is the easiest, so that’s where I’ll start. That will get done this week. I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

Happy info-products!

I ask myself this question every day when I think about whether I should post today and if I do what I should write about and will anyone read it and if they do will they buy my services or products? That’s a lot of questions to ask and a lot of unanswered questions. If you wonder these same things too, let’s see if we can explore the answers together. If you happen to land on this blog and have some answers, please post a comment. And if you didn’t know this, when you leave a comment, you can have a link back to your website. My blog will have comments which means it looks like someone has read it, and you will get a free link to your site. So it’s a win for everyone.

Anyway, back to the questions. First, should I post today? Or how often should I post? I don’t know the answer to that, yet what I do know is every time I post I get a Google alert within a few hours. That means that Google is out there poking around the web picking up fresh content. This is a good thing. It raises your ranking in the search engines. I started out posting twice/week, then abandoned it altogether. Then started back daily, now it’s every other day. If I get a lot of visits, I’m encouraged to post more often; if I get fewer visits, I cut back. This is not a definitive answer by any means. You’ll have to feel it out and see what works best for you.

Next, what should I write about? Well, your area of expertise and your niche market primarily. I ghostwrite information products so I write mostly about that. However, Internet marketing is a broad topic area, so I have written about creating and marketing e-books, books, and other info-products, and peripherally about marketing through blogs, articles, and social networking. Lots to write about, and all of it is in my area of expertise. And some days, like today, I’m writing about what’s on my mind. Or I might write about something in the news that is connected to my topic.

Will anyone read my blog? At first I got little traffic, then it started to build, and one day I had peak traffic. I followed the comments and the links and found that Google blogs was responsible for a lot of that traffic and the subject and keywords were what drew the audience. I continue to investigate how people find blogs and what I can do to attract more traffic. It’s an ongoing learning process.

And lastly, will visitors buy my services and products? At this point, I don’t know the answer. I think if you get repeat visits you start to build a fan base. As people follow your blog, they get to know and respect you and if they have a need they may take the plunge and buy something from you. Because we can all get so much FREE information on the web, you have to make a good case for someone to take out their credit card and pay for information. This, too, is something I continue to investigate in the hopes of uncovering the mystery of selling online. It might help to have an email capture on your blog, and you will need HTML to do that.

If you have any answers to some of these questions, please leave your comments. I truly believe regular blogging should be part of any Internet marketing plan. Mix it up with your articles, press releases, advertising, and social networking and you have a recipe for success.

Happy Info-Products.

How do your articles get found? Through the search engines! Yes, they can be picked up through various sites and be stumbled upon by unsuspecting viewers, but most people look to sites like Yahoo, Google, or other popular search engines to find what they are looking for. The problem is that all those people do not know the title of your work, or that you are even out there. So you need to make yourself known and tell them, “You want me!”

Your article needs to be a gold mine of keywords. This is to say that you need to make sure your content contains those words that people will look for when they are searching for articles on your topic. You need to think of words that a potential reader would think is a great word to submit when looking for a particular site. For example, if your article is about online business promotion, you would want keywords such as business, Internet marketing, business promotion, and so on. Take yourself outside of the box and ask yourself, “If I were looking for this article, what words would I think of?”

Also, you need to make these words present in your article so as to increase your hits on the search engines. Don’t overflow your article with the same words over and over, this is only redundant. However, using a word or phrase 2 or 3 times can improve your stats on the search engines.

Go back and edit your articles and make sure you have the right keywords and the right amount of keywords present to make sure your article is chosen to be read. If all this is a little overwhelming, which to many it is, you can always hire a ghostwriter, like myself. So if this is going over your head a little, that’s fine, it’s my job to know this. As a professional, I can deliver a great article with all the tools it needs to succeed.
